History

2010: Our company was founded to merchandise ethanol with a small office in the Crossroads neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri.

2012: We relocated to the Kansas City Board of Trade to support our growth.

2012: We entered into a multi-year JV with an international ethanol shipper.

2014: We added our first new product line: natural gas liquids.

2015: We relocated to our current headquarters in Mission, Kansas.

2016: We added our feedgrain merchandising division.

2016: We added our specialty products merchandising group (divested as Stricks Ag).

2016: We entered into a supply and distribution agreement with Mid-West Grain, Ltd. (divested as Stricks Ag).

2017: We bought a 50% interest in Stricks Ag, a Montana pulse processing company.

2017: We acquired Lathrop FSG, a food-grade soybean cleaning, processing, and distribution company.

2018: We entered into a product handling agreement with Agriforce Seed and constructed grain bins and handling infrastructure for specialty crops (divested as Stricks Ag).

2019: We added a feed ingredients division.

2019: We acquired Ceres Commodities to expand our soybean operations internationally and integrated it into Lathrop FSG.

2019: We acquired a book of customers to grow our natural gas liquids business into crude oil and refined products.

2019: We acquired the remaining 50% of Stricks Ag.

2020: We achieved our first fiscal year of $1 billion in sales.

2020: We launched The ROOTS Logistics, LLC freight brokerage.

2021: We acquired a technology stack to support our energy operations which enabled our customers to quote online with our trade desk seamlessly. We rebranded our bilateral OTC operations to Risk Canopy and our new software to My Risk Canopy.

2022: We entered into a long-term specialty milling agreement with Western Foods (divested as Stricks Ag).

2024: Stricks Ag acquired a pulse crop and wheat handling facility in Stanford, MT (divested as Stricks Ag).

2024: We sold Stricks Ag to a public company.

2024: We sold Lathrop FSG to a cooperative.

2025: We launched our technology division, Redwood Technologies.
